There are too many choices for parents these days, aren’t there?
What diapers should my baby wear? What about bottles? Should I breastfeed? What kind of pump should I get? What formula? To Swaddle or not to swaddle? What baby wrap should I use? What kind of crib, bassinet, stroller, booster seat, nail clippers, pacifiers, play toys, blankets, stuffies, onesies, shampoo, highchair, bathtub, humidifier, thermometer, pain and gas medicine, sound machine, night light, should we use?!
Once the baby has arrived, parents often find that their perfectly-thought-out plans evaporate into thin air. And that’s ok, because from this point on, the most important thing for your baby is your well being like making sure you’re drinking and eating enough every day. And…Sleep? What does that feel like again…?
Having a new baby is exhausting and it’s very taxing on your energy and that can make even the most simple tasks and decisions difficult. Here’s something that’s not so difficult: Choosing Mother Me
. It will be the best decision you make; we’re confident that you will agree.
Here’s why Mother Me stands out from the rest.
We’ve been around for 20 years.
We know more than a thing or two about newborn babes and, more critically, about new moms. It isn’t an easy transition for either of you but being there for countless moms and dads for many years has taught us that if mothers get the rest they need, they can take on the world. We’ve mastered the art and science of making babies calm and happy. We’re eager to share that knowledge with you so that you can feel confident on your own.
All of our doula’s are specifically trained by Mother Me’s unique training course.
Mother Me has designed a specific training course tailored to our clients. We’ve trained them in what to do when Mom is nervous about breastfeeding or confused about bottle feeding. They can recognize the signs of postpartum depression and anxiety. Our trained doulas have, of course, been through a criminal record check. They’re trained in Infant CPR and have also completed both personal and professional record checks. They remain committed to ongoing training and education seminars. So if you’re in a bind and need someone to show up at your house in the next 24 hours, we can help.
We’ve got you covered.
We have a large staff. In case your doula is sick or cannot make her shift, we can quickly arrange a backup. If you need 24 hour help, we’ve got that too. Have a baby in the NICU? Covered. Mom and/or baby health issues? Covered. Maybe you just don’t like the doula we chose for you? We’ll find someone more suitable. We make sure
all your needs are covered so you can sleep and get the rest you need.
Our specialty is night time care.
Over the past decade the demand for night time nurses and doulas has been on the rise. More and more parents are recognizing that their well-being is critical to that of their baby. Fortunately, a supply of doulas has also increased to meet the rising demand. In general, this is a good thing, but it makes choosing the right doula more difficult. Having the wrong doula looking after your baby can have negative and even seriously harmful effects. Many doulas will want to rest or doze off while your baby is sleeping. At Mother Me, we feel this is an unsafe practice. That’s why we make sure all of our doulas stay awake the entire night. You can rest knowing your baby is in good hands.
Finding the right doula for you.
Michele, Operations Manager, of Mother Me, loves a good doula match. It’s an essential aspect of taking care of both staff and clients. After fifteen years, she has a sixth sense for how to match doulas with moms. All you need to do is give her a bit of background info and let her magic get to work.
We’ve got a few awards under our belt.
Liza started Mother Me and was nominated for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award in 2016 and 2017. She was also nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in Vancouver in 2014. Mother Me Newborn Care was named winner of the West Coast Families Reader’s Choice Award in the doula/ midwife category for the four consecutive years (2011-2014) that West Coast Families published the awards in their magazine. Sadly Liza lost her fight with MS in 2022.
We offer the best post-natal doulas.
We are pleased and confident to say that we offer the best doulas and the best care. We carefully choose who comes on to our team and which doula goes out to each family. We become part of your family and part of your life, so we have a vested interest in making sure we always do what’s best for you. Simply put, we are the best choice.
